I'm keeping a tiny human safe, and I want to get the big things right.
Get the big things right.

Questions, answered
- What actually matters most for a new baby?
Two things dominate the safety evidence: a correctly installed rear-facing car seat, and a firm, flat, bare surface for back-sleeping. Most other purchases are convenience. Get those two right first.
- Can a product prevent SIDS?
No. No product prevents SIDS. Safe sleep is a practice — baby on their back, on a firm flat surface, in a bare sleep area, room-sharing without bed-sharing. Be skeptical of any item marketed as SIDS-preventing.

- Is more expensive gear safer?
Not necessarily. Any car seat sold today meets the same federal crash standard, and safe sleep depends on the practice, not the price. Correct use beats premium features every time.
