A few unglamorous things: dental care (periodontal disease is the most common condition in adult dogs), healthy weight (most US dogs are overweight), joint comfort as they age, and keeping leash force off the neck. Most other purchases are convenience.

- Do dog gadgets actually do anything?
Some are genuinely evidence-backed — VOHC-accepted dental chews reduce plaque and tartar, slow feeders measurably slow fast eaters, and harnesses keep force off the neck. Many others are pure marketing. We only feature the ones with receipts.
- Is a harness really better than a collar?
For a dog that pulls, yes. Vet studies show pulling against a neck collar raises intraocular and tracheal pressure, while a well-fitted harness spreads that force across the chest. A collar is still fine for ID tags on a dog that walks politely.
