This is the honest upgrade over a cloudy King Cube tray: the insulated housing forces water to freeze top-down, so trapped air and impurities get pushed out the bottom instead of frozen into the center. The cubes come out glass-clear and look genuinely bar-grade in a rocks glass. But be clear-eyed about the trade: it makes only 4 cubes per 18-24 hour cycle, the rig is bulkier in the freezer, and you often trim a cloudy base off the bottom cube. Functionally, a same-size cloudy Tovolo cube chills a drink almost identically, because melt rate is governed by the ice's surface-area-to-volume ratio, not its clarity. You are buying looks, plus a marginal density/melt edge.
