This is the pan to buy if your only goal is dropping a chemical non-stick coating: it's 99% iron and 1% carbon with a beeswax shipping film, so there is literally no PTFE/PFAS layer to scratch off or breathe in. You scrub off the beeswax and season it yourself, and it builds slickness over weeks rather than out of the box. Two honest caveats versus cast iron: the epoxy-coated handle limits oven trips (~400°F, under 10 min), and bare carbon steel will rust if stored wet.
